Since its establishment in 2009 until now, School has had cooperative programs with the universities and the international educational organizations. We have received professionals, foreign volunteers to work, teach, and promote the lecturers, students exchanged cooperative programs with the universities.

Welcoming the South Korean delegation- preparing for Korean center establishment in Can Tho University 

Only in 2014, School of Social Sciences and Humanities received many foreign delegations from Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol, Khon Kean (Thailand); Guangxi University (China), University of Science, Malaysia – USM (Malaysia), University of Tours (France) and delegations from Europe; America participated in cultural exchanged conferences, thematic seminars, scientific research cooperation, and lecturers, students exchanged. School would strengthen cooperation with the universities in Asia region and countries in the world in the near future.

 Translation – Interpretation professional conference in School of Social Sciences and Humanities: Department of English, School of Social Sciences and Humanities organized the seminar “Agents in Interpreting and Translating” in September 9th, 2014 with the participation of Dr. Nguyen Thu Huong (Hoa Sen University, Ho Chi Minh City), translators Mai Son and Viem Phuong (Ho Chi Minh City), Chairman of HCM City Young Translators Phan Quoc Tuan and the attendance of Translation – Interpretation lecturers and students (courses 36, 37, 38 and 39). Guest speakers, lecturers and students shared experience jointly about Translation – Interpretation major and the effective teaching methods for this major. Department of English planned to organize this seminar in the end of 2015 with varied guests and larger scale to serve all lecturers and students in Can Tho University. 

Receiving volunteers teaching English: In August 2014, School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Department of English) received a volunteer of Fulbright Program (USA) Mr. Ophir Haberer teaching English for classes of English major. Mr. Ophir Haberer actively participated in many cultural exchanged activities and introduced the American culture. On March 21st, 2015, Mr. Ophir connected with School to organize an advisory training skills and knowledge for the second-year students from English and Translation – Interpretation majors’ to guide them get on well with student life in Can Tho University.

 Students of Department of French, School of Social Sciences and Humanities won high prizes in Dynamic French contest for many years. This was the French knowledge and talent contest for students of the nation-wide universities and colleges organized by The Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) every year. The contest was supported by many organizations: Embassy of France, Embassy of Canada, and French Center in Asia – Pacific region… Being a participant, French major, School of Social Sciences and Humanities always won high prizes at national level (the first prize at national level twice), and international level (the second prize and the third prize in the Southeast of Asia in 2012 and 2013), which was a credit and excitement to Can Tho University.

 School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Department of French) participated in “Enhancing teaching ability for Translation – Interpretation French” project by Belgium government-sponsored. This project lasted 3 years, from 2013 to 2015, within the framework of bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and Belgium government with the participation of 6 universities in Vietnam including Can Tho University (School of Social Sciences and Humanities). Within the framework of this project, School of Social Sciences and Humanities received many Belgian experts to work with School as Professor Philippe Moreau, Head of Department of International Collaboration – Training Translation – Interpretation Brussels Institute; Professor Françoise Celis, Senior International Interpreter Specialist, Professor of Training Translation – Interpretation Brussels Institute. Also, many lecturers of Department of French, School of Social Sciences and Humanities were selected to attend Translation – Interpretation refresher course in Belgium and Europe. 

Participated in Lanna World Music Festival in Thailand: From February 25th, 2015 to March 1st, 2015, the diplomatic group of School of Social Sciences and Humanities on behalf of Viet Nam participated in Lanna World Music Festival in Bangkok (Thailand). This was an annual festival organized by Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand. Festival this year concurred with professional art troupes from countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) and other outside countries as Korea, South Africa… The diplomatic group of School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Can Tho University this year included 12 members (01 staff and 11 students). To come with festival, the group of Vietnam performed song and dance routines which bore the distinct cultural marks of Viet Nam, especially the Mekong Delta like lotus dance, singing the past folk songs. The performance of group left a good impression on the audience and international friends confirmed the cultural identity of Vietnam in general and students of Can Tho University in particular.
